Lisztomania is part concert and part one-man-show stage play with multimedia
enhancements. The concert is a tribute to the life of the greatest 19th century
virtuoso pianist and composer, Franz Liszt, whose fame reached such heights
that the word “Lisztomania” was actually used to describe the frenzy around his
concerts and personality. He was essentially the first rock star. This event,
produced by Clayton Piano Festival and directed/performed by Jonathan Levin,
will use costumes, dramatic lighting, projections, props, and brief monologues
to depict the life and influence of this exciting and controversial character. With
each work on the program representing a different aspect of the composer’s life
and personality, Levin will perform the concert “as Franz Liszt.” Come
experience a one-of-a-kind musical event as Levin takes you on a journey
through some of the most brilliant, uplifting, and virtuosic piano music ever written!
